Winning a new Horizon Europe Project

Together with 8 other wonderful partners, GIG has secured a new project funded by the EU Horizon Europe programme, focused on fashion and craft-related makerspaces in libraries. The project will start in February 2025 – so we have something amazing to look forward to. Stay tuned for our pre-kickoff call!

Contributing to Berlin as a Circular Open City

GIG joined the Implementation Alliance Sustainable Berlin, aligning with local administration and initiatives focused on sustainability and innovation.

Hear from the mAkE (MiR) Makers-in-Residency

mAkE” is our initiative bringing together the European and African maker innovation ecosystems. In June, four African makers spent one month in different makerspaces in European cities to develop their innovative prototypes.

Congratulations to the Chad Innovation Hub for being named the Best Incubator in Central Africa for the second consecutive year! This recognition emphasizes its contribution to entrepreneurship and innovation in the region.

Digital Literacy: Citizen Innovation Lab by Procomum

Procomum Institute is actively building the CLIC - Citizen Innovation Lab, a collaborative initiative driven by GNova. This citizen lab aims to address challenges faced by public agencies and is working to bridge the digital literacy gap in Brazil’s Unified Registry.

Digital Skills for Refugees: AskMobileLab Project

We’re so glad to see a continuation of the #Labmobile project in Uganda 😍 three GIG member organizations collaborated for a new training series in the Rhino Camp Refugee Settlement: CC4D and Platform Africa, supported by the r0g agency, organized the #AskMobileLab project. This initiative provided hands-on workshops for community media, electronics repair and textile upcycling, empowering 25 participants with digital skills.

Here's How You Can Support GIG Today 🌟

  1. Individuals Can Become Supporting Members for as little as 30 EUR per year. However, the organization encourages a higher annual donation depending on the individual's means.
  2. Organizations Can Become Supporting Members starting with a donation of 300 EUR per year. This fee is suggested for organizations with less than 50 employees and/or have an annual budget of less than 1 million EUR. Organizations with more than 50 employees and/or have an annual budget of more than 1 million EUR are encouraged to donate a minimum of 3000 EUR per year.
