We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the GIG Fund, a milestone in our journey to drive grassroots innovation for social impact worldwide that is made possible by the Judith Neilson Foundation.
Over the past decade, we’ve supported our members in developing grassroots innovative solutions. Yet across our network, we've seen two critical gaps hold back grassroots innovators: a lack of early-stage funding for experimentation, and structural barriers that prevent high-potential projects from scaling.
The GIG Fund addresses both gaps and offers GIG members support that goes beyond traditional grants. We are inviting members working on innovations that tackle critical urban challenges to apply.
What does the GIG Fund make possible for members?
- Seed funding (US$5,000) to experiment and learn
- Implementation grants (US$20,000) to scale impact
- Expert mentorship, capacity-building workshops, and peer learning tailored to each project
Unlike traditional grantmaking, the GIG Fund is participatory and shaped by our members closest to their communities' challenges. Applications are now open, and grantees will be announced this May.
