About it | Yayasan Mitra Ruang Kolektif – also known as Common Room Networks Foundation (Common Room) – is an open platform for art, culture and ICT/media, which was registered as a non-profit organization in 2005. The organization was initiated by the Bandung Center for New Media Arts, which was actively engaged with the multidisciplinary artistic practice in Bandung since early 2000. After being initiated as a platform that bridges dialogue and interaction to encourage multidisciplinary collaboration and connect many individuals, Common Room has succeeded in reaching various groups and individuals with diverse social and cultural backgrounds, both in local and international context. Since its early inception, Common Room has also been committed to maintaining the space for freedom of expression and community empowerment that utilizes arts and culture, including information and communication technology (ICT) and digital media. Since 2013, Common Room has also been actively involved in the development of an urban-rural collaboration platform that was initiated together with the Kasepuhan Ciptagelar indigenous community in West Java. In the past years, Common Room was also engaged with the development of community-centered connectivity initiatives in rural areas and remote places in Indonesia. |
