Areas of Expertise

  • Circular Design – Projects that integrate recycling, reuse, and innovation in the development of products and spaces
  • Ephemeral Architecture – Creation of temporary structures for events, exhibitions, and cultural experiences
  • Urban Interventions – Activation of public spaces with furniture, parklets, and participatory solutions that promote community interaction and sustainability

  • Lab Tempestade (Procomum Institute) – Co-creation of solutions to address the impacts of the climate crisis in urban areas
  • Circular Furniture – Development of pieces made from collected plastic waste, installed in public areas of Recife and Olinda

Casa Criatura is more than a creative space: it’s a meeting point for artists, designers, and entrepreneurs committed to a sustainable future. Our purpose is to transform waste into resources, challenges into opportunities, and cities into more creative and human places.

Cirandar – Laboratory of Education and Circular Design

About the project

Cirandar Project

Cirandar is an initiative that connects design, social innovation, and sustainability to tackle the challenges of plastic pollution in rivers and oceans. Created by Casa Criatura, the project serves as a collaborative platform bringing together design labs, schools, industries, and waste-picker cooperatives to transform waste into resources and promote new circular economies.

More than just a recycling program, Cirandar operates as a living laboratory for experimentation. Through processes of collecting, sorting, and reusing plastics—especially bottle caps—it develops urban furniture, utility objects, and innovative prototypes. These products not only reduce environmental impact but also strengthen income generation and social inclusion for local communities.

The project’s main goals include:

  • Education and awareness – Promoting sustainable practices in schools and community spaces
  • Innovation and circular design – Developing creative solutions for reusing plastic waste
  • Social impact – Supporting waste-picker cooperatives and creating opportunities for dignified work
  • Culture and territory – Activating urban spaces with circular furniture, expanding access to art and design

Cirandar believes that caring for the planet is a collective act. By bringing together different sectors of society around sustainability, the project creates a continuous movement—like a “ciranda” (a traditional Brazilian circle dance)—where each person plays a vital role in shaping the future.
