Originated in agriculture, to cultivate refers to preparing and nurturing the soil to grow crops or plants. In permanent agriculture, known as permaculture, it is cultivated as an ecosystem which combines different forms of life and which acknowledges and integrates the complexity and the multiple power dimensions of ecosystems.
