Refugees arriving on the Greek Islands are given summer tents to live in for years. They are not insulated. We use hot air guns to melt the corners of the filling materials of rescue jackets to create insulation sheets on the island of Lesvos. Various organizations and initiatives took this method to assure that more tents are warm during the winter months. Refugees came up with the methods and started spreading it by themselves following a human centered design initiative by me.
