Our Speakers:

Salih Mahmod – Former manager of Mosul Space
Laura Miguel Baumann – Secretary General, European Crafts Alliance
Rachel Kelly – Programmes Manager, European Crafts Alliance
Natalia Viter – Journalist and founder of Potter Viter studio

What We’ll Explore Together:

Traditional building and craft methods have always been about working with what’s available, fixing rather than replacing, and creating things that last. From the historic architecture of Old Mosul to craft traditions across Europe and innovative ceramic practices in Ukraine, we’ll explore the fascinating intersection of repair and traditional craft practices, and how time-tested approaches offer solutions for today’s sustainability challenges.

Our conversation will cover:

  • Balancing preservation with innovation and accessibility
  • How traditional builders and craftspeople have practiced sustainability for centuries
  • The role of repair in preserving and reinterpreting traditional forms
  • Ways that heritage crafts connect to our contemporary lives
  • Circular crafting as a tool for mental and cultural recovery

What to Expect:

This call promises to be a rich, cross-cultural exchange about keeping craft traditions alive and relevant in today’s world. Join us for an interactive session where different perspectives come together. We’ll hear from our featured speakers and create space for questions, discussion, and sharing ideas!

See you then 🙂

This session will be recorded and made available for those who cannot attend live. Please sign up if you’d like to receive it.
