The Makerspace at re:publica 2025 is about getting hands-on, trying new things, and meeting people who love making the difference. Whether you’re into tech, crafts, or just curious about DIY projects, there’s plenty to check out.
What’s Happening at the Makerspace?
Workshops
From 26.-28. Mai 2025, we’re excited to be back with our usual three-day complete program of workshops, all happening on the classic Makerspace high square table. Whether you’re returning or joining us for the first time, you’ll find plenty of chances to get hands-on, experiment, and connect with other makers.
We will kick off the day with generative video creation using AI. You can also try programming LED animations with Python. If you’re into sustainability, learn how to build a solar-powered website or create solar sensor setups.
A Repair Café
Bring your old gadgets and learn from Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg, and Lettekiez repair experts. They’ll show you how to upgrade laptops with Linux and fix household devices like sewing machines, power tools, and food mixers. You’ll also hear about Berlin’s repair culture and how it’s helping reduce waste while building stronger communities.
Repairing instead of throwing away isn’t just practical—it’s a mindset. It challenges the idea of disposable tech and teaches valuable skills that connect generations. Whether you’re new to fixing things or a seasoned DIYer, join the conversation about how repair culture can make a real difference and how you can get involved locally.

Kid’s Corner: A Space for Young Makers
The Kid’s Corner is a new addition this year, thanks to a collaboration between Junge Tüftler from Berlin and Vivistop Baguio from the Philippines, both GIG members. The kid’s corner is a space where kids (and curious adults) can dive into creative projects and hands-on experiments. Please, mind that:
- Morning Workshops: Aimed at educators and community leaders, offering practical ideas for incorporating making into teaching.
- Afternoon Workshops: Geared towards kids and teens, with plenty of chances to try new skills and make something cool.
Further Drop-in Activities include Button Pin Making, Polymer Clay Creations, Heat Press Art, Heat Shrink Crafts, and 3D Printing.
The Kid’s Corner is open to anyone eight and up, but younger kids will need an adult around since we’ll use elementary tools like glue and scissors.

Why Makerspace?
The Makerspace is open all day throughout re:publica. Whether you want to fix up an old device, learn a new skill, or hang out with creative folks, there’s something for everyone. Hope to see you there!
